Riverview Middle School choir students participated in a singer/songwriter project that culminated in a performance by Cry You One from Louisiana.
The project for choir students in grades six, seven and eight was designed by Riverview chorus teacher Rachel Trempe Simac and Riverview literacy coach Lynn Graening. Students chose a singer/songwriter who cares about the environment; researched the artist’s influences, awards and career; then performed or created a music video to share with the class.
On June 7, 650 Riverview students attended a performance on the school lawn by Cry You One, a Louisiana-based band that performs songs about the environment with a bayou feel. The concert was made possible by an anonymous donation in collaboration with the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.
