Summer Playgroup offered at rotating parks

Posted June 19, 2017

Looking for a regular opportunity to meet other families and let the kids get some fresh air? Plymouth School District Community Education & Recreation is coordinating a free Summer Playgroup at rotating parks this summer.

Families with children of all ages are invited to enjoy Plymouth parks and commune with nature as well as with other families. Community Ed & Rec staff will be present, but parents are asked to supervise their children.

Summer Playgroup meets from 9:30 to 11 a.m. every Friday (except June 30) through Aug. 25 at a rotating park each week:

  • First Friday (i.e. June 2, July 7, Aug. 4): Rotary Park, 903 E. Clifford St., at the corner of Clifford and Commerce streets.
  • Second Friday (i.e. June 9, July 14, Aug. 11): City Park, 203 Suhrke Road, the big park just west of Highway 67 north of town
  • Third Friday (i.e. June 16, July 21, Aug. 18): Lone Oak Park, 2245 Valley Road, east of Lions Park, which is across from Horizon Elementary School
  • Fourth Friday (i.e. June 23, July 28, Aug. 25): Meyer Park, 300 Daleview Drive, just west of Highway 67 south of downtown

Shelters will be open in the parks that have them. There is no need to register. Rain won’t cancel Summer Playgroup, but lightning will.

There’s also still room in the following:

  • Osteoporosis & Arthritis: Dr. Dan Francis of Francis Chiropractic will lead a discussion about bone health and osteoporosis as well as how natural nutrition can help prevent and treat arthritis as we get older. Class will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 28 in the library at Plymouth High School, 125 Highland Ave.; fee is $15.
