The KIDS from Wisconsin will bring its 49th show season and a talented group of 35 KIDS – including Plymouth High School student Alex Turicik – back to Plymouth this summer.
This year’s show, “Head Out on the Highway,” will feature some of the state’s most talented singers and musicians ages 15 to 20, who were chosen during statewide auditions in February. In addition to performing at the Wisconsin State Fair, they will present about 35 road shows throughout Wisconsin.
The Plymouth performance, hosted by the Plymouth Arts Center, will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, June 23 in the PHS Auditorium, 125 Highland Ave. Reserved seats cost $16 for adults and $11 for those under 18 and are on sale now at the Plymouth Arts Center, 520 E. Mill St.; online at www.plymoutharts.org; or by calling (920) 892-8409. The box office will be open at 6 p.m. the evening of the performance.
In addition, the KIDS from Wisconsin also will present a free afternoon outreach program the day of the show. “Realize Your Dream” is designed for children 7 to 13 years of age and will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the PHS auditorium. Those interested are encouraged to pre-register at https://www.kidsfromwisconsin.org/outreach.
Alex, who will be a junior at PHS this fall, plays guitar in the band for the second year in a row. He performs in a variety of PHS groups, including Jazz Band and Momentum show choir. He also performs with the UW-Sheboygan Jazz Band, Generations Big Band, the Sheboygan Theater Company pit band, and with his father in their group, The FlamingOs, on guitar and trombone.
The Kids from Wisconsin is part of an entertainment tradition created for Wisconsin's talented youth in 1969, when they were showcased at the Wisconsin State Fair. Today, the pride and passion lives on through a Kids from Wisconsin Revue that is performed live annually for more than 100,000 people each summer at venues across the state.
