Plymouth High School senior Harrison Strutz has accepted a scholarship to swim for Barton College in Wilson, N.C.

He signed his letter of intent to swim for Barton during a ceremony May 3 at the school, with his family, friends, coaches, teammates and school officials in attendance.

At Barton, Harrison will swim the 100-yard backstroke and the 50- and 100-yard freestyles, and will be on relay teams. He plans to study Criminology and Criminal Justice Sciences.

Harrison was part of the PHS boys swimming & diving team that took 10th at the Division 2 State Swimming & Diving Championships in February. At State, he tied for seventh in the 100-yard backstroke, took ninth in the 50-yard freestyle, and was part of the eighth-place 400-yard freestyle relay and the 10th-place 200-yard medley relay teams.

He also took first in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke at the Eastern Wisconsin Conference Meet, and was part of the winning medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay teams.

Harrison is the sixth member of the PHS Class of 2017 to sign a letter of intent to play collegiate athletics. He joins Derek Schweiger, who will play football at Iowa State University; Kaylee Koenig, who will play soccer at UW-Whitewater; Megan Goeser, who will play volleyball at Lakeland University; Emily Majerus, who will play basketball at Carroll College; and Kaitlyn Heyrman, who will play soccer at Concordia University.
