PHS garden full of growing plants

PHS Artifact: Garden classroom

Posted May 1, 2017

NOTE: In honor of the 50th anniversary of Plymouth Comprehensive High School this year, we're sharing images of objects in and around the school. If you know more about these artifacts, please contact Jamie Piontkowski at jpiontkowski@plymouth.k12.wi.us or 892-5068.

Plymouth High School, which has long had a greenhouse, added this garden classroom in 2012.

Students helped construct the raised beds in May 2012. Each year botany classes plant various vegetables and herbs in the spring, which then are tended by community volunteers during the summer. Remaining produce is harvested for the Plymouth Food Pantry and in the fall for use in school lunches. The garden also features decorative tree branches painted by PHS art students.
