Jolly Pranksters in ComedySportz League

Posted February 6, 2017

TThe Plymouth High School Jolly Pranksters comedy team is competing for the 11th year in the ComedySportz High School League, the only school in the county to do so.

The team will participate in matches one Saturday each month at the ComedySportz Arena, 420 S. 1st St., Milwaukee. General admission $3 for one match, $5 for two or $8 for three. The schedule is:

  • Feb. 11: PHS plays Tosa East at 11 a.m. and Reagan at noon
  • March 18: PHS plays Rugus King at 11 a.m. and Reagan at 1 p.m.
  • April 1: PHS plays Waukesha South at 11 a.m. and Brookfield East at 1 p.m.

ComedySportz matches consist of a variety of improvisational games played by the team members, or "act-letes," who spontaneously create comedic scenes and skits. The players compete to earn points that are awarded based on the audience response, and the group that is dubbed by the referee as being the funniest earns the most points.

Audience participation is highly encouraged and an integral part of each show. Accordingly, PHS fans can ride the team bus, which is expected to leave the student lot at 9:30 a.m. and return by 3 p.m.; transportation is free, but contact advisor Janet DeJean Newton to make a reservation.

The Jolly Pranksters also will present free shows at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 20 and Thursday, May 4 in the PHS Amphitheatre.

The 2016-17 Jolly Pranksters players include:

  • Seniors: Elisabeth Balistreri, Josh Hafemann, Connor McManus, and guest player Delaney Scudella
  • Juniors: Paul Hammes, Dillon Nemitz, Justin Schmitz, Madilyn Straub, Quinn Zwick
