The Plymouth High School chapter of Delta Epsilon Phi, the German National Honor Society, recently inducted 14 members.

After six continuing members gave short speeches in German introducing themselves, the new members were inducted in front of their families in a ceremony held Nov. 7 in the school library. The event, which included a candle lighting and presentation of certificates of membership, was followed by a short reception.

To be eligible for Delta Epsilon Phi, students must have a 3.5 grade-point average in German after four or six semesters and an overall GPA of 3.0. They also must be invited to join and complete an application process.

Once members, students participate in a variety of activities both at PHS and in the community to maintain their membership. The PHS chapter of Delta Epsilon Phi, sponsored by German teacher Sandy Nicholson, has inducted 94 members since its establishment in 2009.
