Plymouth sends 8 to State Honors Music Project

Eight Plymouth School District students participated in the recent State Honors Music Project.

This initiative of the Wisconsin State Music Association offers musically talented students the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the nation's finest conductors in a professional and highly disciplined setting. Participants are selected after highly competitive auditions.

High-school students attend an intensive five-day summer camp at UW-Green Bay in June, then reconvene in Madison at the end of October to perform during the Wisconsin State Music Conference. Plymouth High School students participating were:

  • Jack Benedict on trumpet in the orchestra
  • Samantha Loose on flute in the orchestra
  • Keeley Kuru tenor on saxophone in the band

Middle-school students attend a two-day camp during the summer and a two-day session the last week of October before performing for parents and musical staff in Madison. Riverview Middle School participating were:

  • Azure Maki in Middle Level Honors Choir
  • Lexi Sheridan in Middle Level Honors Choir
  • Davis Suckow in Middle Level Honors Choir
  • Cami Schroeder in Middle Level Honors Band
  • Alex Oty in Middle Level Honors Band

Alex also was Sinfonia division winner at the 2017 Young Musician Competition held Oct. 1 by the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra. He will be a featured soloist with the Sheboygan Area Youth Symphony Concert Orchestra on April 23 at Sheboygan Falls High School.
