Deductive books

Math students create children’s book

Posted November 7, 2016

Students in the Plymouth High School extended geometry class taught by Dawn Krebsbach and Kay Hannes recently created children’s books and shared them with elementary students.

The PHS students wrote the books – modeled after “If You Give a Pig a Pancake” – using deductive reasoning, as their culminating unit project. They were able to choose their own topic, which ranged from horses to Minecraft to bullying.

They then visited the first-grade class at Horizon Elementary School taught by Sheila Brzeski, and the Fairview Elementary School classes of kindergarten teacher Shari Ingersoll, and second-grade teachers Pam Ott and Rebecca Sippel.
