Fairview Elementary School students recently got the chance to see and touch a mammoth pumpkin, a colossal squash and a gigantic gourd.
The pumpkin weighed 2,047 – more than a ton! -- and is the second-largest pumpkin grown in Wisconsin this year and the sixth-largest in the United States. The squash weighed 961 pounds, and the gourd was 107 inches long.
The giant produce was grown by second-grade teacher Rebecca Sippel’s brother Derek and his wife, Nicole, on their farm in St. Cloud.
