The community is encouraged to enjoy Plymouth High School Homecoming Week from Oct. 2 to 8, especially the annual parade and football game on Friday, Oct. 7.
Storefront decorating contest
Local businesses are invited to decorate in keeping with the 2016 Homecoming theme of “PHS Travels Through Time Like a Panther.” The Homecoming Committee will recognize the most spirited displays on Mill Street.
Volleyball/Powder Puff tournaments
The public is invited to the annual Boys Volleyball Tournament beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2 in the gym, as well as to the Girls Powder Puff Football Tournament beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the football field.
A tug-of-war competition between the classes will be held throughout the week during the advisory period, with the finals Friday morning. Daily dress-up days tied to the theme are planned, as are lunchroom activities.
Pep Rally/Coronation/Hall of Fame Induction
The annual Homecoming Pep Rally/Coronation on Friday, Oct. 7 will feature the Homecoming Court, chosen by the student body from representatives of each student activity or club. The representatives and court also will be announced before the football game.
The assembly also will include the induction of the newest members of the Plymouth High School Alumni Hall of Fame: Darwin Blanke of the Class of 1941, Thomas Kestell of the Class of 1966, and Lisa Jaster of the Class of 1996.
The annual PHS Homecoming Parade through downtown Plymouth will begin at 4:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7. The route will begin near East Main and Caroline streets, head south to Mill Street, east on Mill to North Street, then north back to Main. Businesses and community organizations are invited to enter the parade; click here for an entry form, which is due Sept. 29.
A brat fry sponsored by the PHS Soccer Booster Club will be held at the Finke Field concession stand at PHS. Brats, burgers and baked goods will be sold from 4:30 to 9 p.m.
The football game against Kewaskum will kick off at 7 p.m. PHS alumni are invited to sign in at the Plymouth Education Foundation welcome tent and receive a complimentary gift.
The annual Homecoming Dance on Oct. 8 will conclude the week’s activities.
