You Can Help!: Volunteers

Parents, grandparents and other community members are encouraged to volunteer their time in Plymouth schools, either on an ongoing basis or for a one-time event.

Ongoing volunteer opportunities


Noon recess helpers
Where: Fairview
What's involved: Assist teachers and aides with recess supervision
Time commitment: During recess; can sign up for specific days
Notes: Can bring younger children

Library helper
Where: Fairview
What's involved: Shelving books that have been returned
Time commitment: Flexible during school day

Market Day helpers
Where: Fairview
What's involved: Help sort Market Day orders and place in boxes
Time commitment: 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. first Friday of the month
Notes: Can bring younger children

Assemble Friday Folders
Where: Fairview
What's involved: Assemble the packets that go home with elementary students
Time commitment: 8:45 to 10 a.m. usually on Fridays; may be needed 1 or 2 times per month

Yearbook helper
Where: Fairview
What's involved: Help take photos of students in the classroom, on the playground and at events and field trips throughout the year; assist in cover contest and with orders and distribution
Time commitment: 1-2 hours per month, more in the spring

What's involved: Volunteers weigh and measure all children

Vision Screening
Where: Fairview
What's involved: Help nurse screen students' vision

Walk to School Day
What's involved: Chaperone students walking to school on designated day in October

Sneak Peek Picnics
Where: Fairview
What's involved: Donate food items and help sell food at event a few days before school starts

Fairview Concert Night Bake Sale
When: After the winter and spring concerts
What's involved: Make and sell baked goods

Fairview Christmas Luncheon
When: One day in early December
What's involved: Donate food and serve staff as a thank-you

Fairview VIP Day (formerly Grandparents' Day)
When: One day in mid-April
What's involved: Greet visitors and help them find classrooms, also serve them coffee

Fairview Staff Appreciation Week
When: early May
What's involved: Help with something special for staff each day, help with an appreciation luncheon, take a recess duty
