Suspension of Students

The Principal may suspend any pupil not to exceed five days for noncompliance with Board of Education policies or reasonable rules and regulations established by the school or other reasons permitted by state law. Students must be suspended for possession of a firearm, as defined by federal law, while at school or while under the supervision of a school authority.

In all cases of suspension, the Superintendent shall be notified.

Expulsion of Students

The Board of Education may expel under provision of state law any pupil whenever it finds him/her guilty of persistent refusal or neglect to obey school regulations and is satisfied that the expulsion is in the best interests of the school, or other reasons permitted by law. Students must be expelled for not less than one year for possession of a firearm, as defined by federal law, while at school or while under the supervision of a school authority.

The Board may establish conditions for early reinstatement from expulsion, under provision of state law.
