421 Entrance Age

Children who meet the age requirements of the State may be enrolled in 4 year kindergarten, 5 year kindergarten, or first grade program offered by the district.

No child may be admitted to 4 year kindergarten unless he/she are 4 years old before September 1 and no child may be admitted to 5 year kindergarten unless he/she is five years old on or before September 1 in the year he/she proposes to enter school.

No child may be admitted to the first grade unless he/she is six years old on or before September 1 in the year he/she proposes to enter school.

Upon written parental request, multidisciplinary screening will be provided to a pupil who has reached the age of three to determine if the child has a disability. Upon parental consent the child will be placed in an appropriate educational program.

A pupil applying for early admission must meet the standards, conditions and procedures prescribed by the Board. Children whose birth dates do not meet the date requirements may apply in writing to the Board designee for early admission.
