Summer athletic camps offered at PHS

A number of youth athletic opportunities will be offered this summer at Plymouth High School.

 

2012 Summer Swim Opportunities

Students from age 7 through college can start and/or continue to practice and train for competitive swimming. New this year for grades 5 through 12 is a Strokes Camp, an opportunity to work on refining and improving a specific stroke.

Students through eighth grade go from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and can attend Swim Club from June 18 to July 20 (no club July 2-6) and/or Strokes Camp from July 23 to July 27.

Students entering ninth grade through college can attend Swim Club from 6 to 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday from June 11 to Aug. 1 and/or Strokes Camp from 4:30 to 5:15 Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 10 to 26.

Fees are $45 for Swim Club, $25 for Strokes Club or $55 for both; family discounts are available.

2012 Plymouth Youth Football Camp

PHS football coaches will instruct boys entering grades five through nine in the basic fundamentals of football, weight training and the development of speed, power and agility. The camp will use PHS practice fields, gymnasium and weight room for all instructional sessions.

Camp runs from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. July 16 to 18. Fee is $33, which includes  a camp T-shirt.

2012 Plymouth Boys Basketball Summer Camp

PHS coaching staff and players will teach boys entering grades three through 10 the basic fundamentals of shooting, ball-handling and passing. It emphasizes skill development along with team play, competition and fun.

Weeklong sessions are offered from June 18 to 22 and from June 25 to 29; students can attend either or both. Camp meets from 12:30 to 2 p.m. for those entering grades three to five; from 2 to 3:30 p.m. for those entering grades six and seven; and from 10 to 11:30 a.m. for those entering grades eight to 10. Fee is $40 for one week or $50 for two.

2012 Panther Volleyball Camp

PHS volleyball coaches Peggy Huhn and Angie Wachter and players will teach students entering grades six through nine basic volleyball skills, including passing, setting, serving, attacking and game rotation.
