Posted April 23, 2012

Plymouth School District Community Education and Recreation is offering another session of Grocery Store Challenge.

Participants will spend time in the Plymouth Piggly Wiggly with dietitian Jessica Mella, district nutrition and wellness coordinator, to learn label reading and how to compare many foods to help make sense of all the choices. Class will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 17 at the store. Fee is $8 ($6 for district residents ages 62 and above) until May 4, then $13 ($11).

Online registration is available for most courses at www.plymouth.k12.wi.us/COM.html. This option, which carries a $4 service charge, allows participants to pay with a credit card and also to receive immediate confirmation of enrollment.

Also coming up is another session of Meningococcal Disease and the Risks for Young Adults. High schoolers and adults are invited to hear Bob Werner, a Wisconsin resident and national speaker, address the importance of understanding the symptoms of this disease and ways to prevent it. He will tell the personal story of his daughter Becky's short journey and ultimate death from this disease. He will give a free presentation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2.
