Public encouraged to attend winter concerts

The public is invited to experience the musical talents of students in the Plymouth School District during upcoming winter concerts.

The following concerts are free and open to the public:

  • PHS Winter Band Concert, 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, PHS Auditorium
  • Cabaret, 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, PHS Auditorium
  • Sixth- through Eighth-Grade Choral Concert, 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, Riverview Auditorium
  • Riverview Sixth- through Eighth-Grade Band Concert, 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, Riverview Auditorium

PHS Winter Jazz Concert

The Plymouth High School Music Department will present a Winter Jazz Concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27 in the amphitheater.

Jazz ensembles 1 and 2 will perform with special guest artists Jeff Schieble and Ralph McGonegle in a club-style atmosphere.

Mr. Scheible attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he studied trumpet with Dominic Spera. He is a highly sought-after jazz clinician and performer throughout the Midwest.  He has performed with jazz greats Pete Barbutti, Richie Cole and Barret Deams. Mr. Schiebe is the founder and director of Sheboygan’s Jazz Generations Big Band.

Mr. McGonegle has been performing on bass, guitar, vocals and harmonica since 1964. Based in Chicago, he performed with many blues bands throughout the Midwest and the South, most notably for 10 years with Black Eli. Mr. McGonegle now lives in Kiel and can be heard in the area with his current band, Pudgy Knuckles.

Jazz 2 will perform “Orange Sherbet,” “Ain’t Misbehavin'," “A Child is Born,” and “Big Mama Cass.”  Jazz 1 will perform “Don’t Get Sassy,” “After You’ve Gone,"  “Just a Minor Thing” and “Moanin'.”  

Admission is free. Coffee and baked treats will be available for purchase.
