The Plymouth School District has announced that its annual 4-year-old kindergarten registration will be from Jan. 23 to 27.

Registration can be made from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at any Plymouth elementary school: Fairview, Horizon or Parkview. Children must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2012, in order to enroll. 

The district is dedicated to providing a nurturing 4-year-old kindergarten experience for all families. Emphasis is on a collaborative community approach that allows for minimizing transitions for children while providing a quality learning environment. 

A full-day 4K program is available through Head Start, and half-day programs are available at Growing Generations Childcare, as well as at Fairview, Horizon and Parkview elementary schools.

Parents need to present the following at registration:

• the two-sided registration form (click here to download English / Spanish)
• child’s birth certificate (obtain from register of deeds)
• a record of immunizations (obtain from child’s doctor or county health department)
• the placement information form (click here to download English / Spanish)
• the census form (click here to download)
• the home language survey (click here to download English / Spanish)

Forms also will be available at the schools.

Placement information will be mailed to families as soon as it becomes available. Visitation will take place in August, so children do not need to come to registration.

Options for families needing child care outside of the 4K school day include:

• Berry Branch Childcare, operated by Plymouth Community Education and Recreation, which provides care in the schools.
• Growing Generations, which offers Plymouth School District 4-K collaboration classes at its location at 1500 Douglas Drive. Growing Generations will have an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19.

District families whose children will not be attending public school for 4-year-old kindergarten can call the Fairview School office at 892-2621 to be removed from the contact list.
