Horizon Elementary School in Plymouth raised at least $6,500 at its third annual Walk-a-Thon on Sept. 27.
About 250 students and about 40 adults – teachers, staff and parent volunteers – walked for 20 minutes on the Plymouth High School track.
Donations, which are still coming in, will be used for field trips and student activities throughout the school year, said Brenda Dale, a parent who helped Synde Kraus organize the event.
“The kids had a great time, and we had a great turn-out of parent volunteers,” Mrs. Dale said. “We also had about 10 high school athletes come over to cheer the students on. I would like to thank all the parents, grandparents and students who came in to help with the event.”
She also thanked Dairy Queen for helping to provide ice cream for the students.
